The annual India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 is set for this week, and it is shaping up to be a headline-grabbing event. Key industry players like Xiaomi, Qualcomm, and Ericsson will be showcasing their latest tech in telecommunications and digital technology. This year, the event promises a mix of partnerships, new demonstrations, and an all-around focus on the future of connectivity.
Like every year, it will be a four-day event. It will take place at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. It will kick off tomorrow, October 15, and will go on till October 18. The event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the opening day, who will address the attendees and will go around the venue for the first showcase.
The event will also be attended by Jyotiraditya Scindia, communication and development minister of North East region, Akash Ambani, who is the chairperson of Reliance Jio, Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder and chairperson of Bharti Enterprises, Kumar M Birla, chairperson of Aditya Birla group, among others.
5G demonstrations will continue to be a big focus at the event, including showcases of AI use case scenarios, among other things. There is going to be a partnership announcement by Xiaomi and Snapdragon at IMC 2024. Some other announcements from Qualcomm are also expected. Here is everything that you can expect to be announced at IMC 2024.
A significant highlight will be the announcement of a partnership between Xiaomi and Snapdragon, signalling a strategic move to leverage Snapdragon’s latest chips in Xiaomi’s upcoming devices. This alliance is expected to enhance the performance of Xiaomi smartphones –– particularly budget Xiaomi phones –– providing users with faster speeds, improved battery life, and better overall efficiency. It’s a big move that could see Xiaomi strengthening its position in the Indian smartphone market, where competition is more intense than ever.
Qualcomm, the maker of Snapdragon chips, has its own showcase planned for IMC 2024. The tech giant is set to demonstrate the power of on-device AI, giving attendees a glimpse into how artificial intelligence can revolutionise everything from mobile user experiences to industrial applications. Expect to see demonstrations on “5G for All,” as Qualcomm aims to make ultra-fast connectivity accessible to a broader audience, a message that resonates strongly in a country like India where smartphone penetration continues to rise.
Adding more layers of innovation, Qualcomm is bringing its latest 10-core, 12-core, and 8-core processors to the spotlight. These high-performance chips are designed to handle intensive computing needs and power a new generation of smartphones, wearables, and even industrial devices.
Among the more intriguing aspects of Qualcomm’s exhibition will be the Meta Ray-Ban glasses, equipped with the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip. These smart glasses promise to blend augmented reality into everyday life, enabling users to interact with digital information right in front of their eyes. Whether it’s overlaying directions, translating text on the go, or offering immersive gaming experiences, these glasses represent Qualcomm’s vision for a wearable, connected future.
With the IMC 2024 bringing together industry leaders, government representatives, and tech enthusiasts, it promises to be a melting pot of innovation and vision. As India continues to cement its position as a global tech hub, this year’s event might just be the spark for the next wave of digital transformation in the country. From AI to 5G, and from new partnerships to futuristic wearables, the IMC 2024 is going to be interesting.
